WISDOM

  • By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
  • Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.
  • Knowledge is a process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification.
  • We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.
  • Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.
  • A man only becomes wise when he begins to calculate the approximate depth of his ignorance.
